Fox's New Amsterdam: Meet the Cast
Written by Allan Loeb and Christian Taylor, Fox’s New Amsterdam is a story about an immortal New York homicide detective named John Amsterdam who has spent three centuries living a bittersweet life. His immortality was given to him by a Native Indian girl he saved back in 1642. The girl’s spell can only be broken when he finds his one true love.

Although John’s lengthy time in this world has allowed him to experience many adventures and develop his talents, he has watched people around him, including his loved ones, grow old and pass away, leaving him alone to carry his burdensome gift.

The series is under the direction of Lasse Halstrom, who is also credited as one of the show’s executive producers.
