A new character is about to make a "smash" in the ninth season of
Grey's Anatomy.
According to TVLine, the medical drama has cast
Friday Night Lights star Gaius Charles in a recurring role.
Details on his character weren't revealed, but it seems logical that he'd play an incoming doctor since
Grey's Anatomy ended with one doctor dying, another leaving and countless others being injured and considering moves to various other hospitals.
Charles played Brian "Smash" Williams on
Friday Night Lights where he worked with other
Grey's Anatomy guest stars like Kyle Chandler and Zach Gilford. Most recently Charles has landed a recurring role on USA's
Necessary Roughness.
Grey's Anatomy will have a number of questions to answer when the show comes back, most notable figuring out who's staying, who's going and how those doctors will get rescued from the horrific plane crash.
