When
Mark Harmon is not busy playing Leroy Jethro Gibbs on the highly-rated series
NCIS, the 56-year-old actor spends his time doing charitable acts. In fact, he has recently raised money for “Pitch in for Kids,” an annual celebrity baseball benefit and has broken the record by helping bring in receipts of $301,065 for pediatric patients at The Children’s Center, a private non-profit hospital serving children with complex medical and physical disabilities. The benefit raised $242,000 in 2007.
“It’s been an outstanding year,” The Children’s Center CEO Albert Gray told okcbusiness.com. “We are thankful to Mark, his friends and for the support of many people who, once again, came through to demonstrate their generosity.”

The event, in its eighth year, was sponsored by OSSO Healthcare Network, a comprehensive medical provider specializing in orthopedics and management, spine surgery, hand surgery, sports medicine, OB/GYN, general surgery, neurosurgery and family medicine.
“This is the best year we’ve had. We know the money will be used for quality services,” Michael Wright, M.D., a surgeon who initially helped bring the
NCIS actor’s celebrity team to Oklahoma City, said.
The Mark Harmon “Pitch in for Kids” celebrity weekend consisted of a bowling event, and live and silent auctions at Edmond’s AMF Boulevard Lanes, just to name a few. Celebrities also joined Harmon’s “Bombers” baseball team to take on OSSO’s “Outlaws,” a team including the Dallas Cowboys’ Roy Williams, country singer Ty England and
NEWS 9’s Doug Warner during a seven-inning game at the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Hollywood producer Frank Marshall and ESPN sports announcer Rick Sutcliffe played with the Bombers.
Meanwhile, fans can catch the
NCIS actor in the big screen this year as he stars in the romantic comedy
