Next week, NCIS will be demonstrating how a team of special agents takes on a crime involving the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps, regardless of rank or position.  Action and suspense unfolds in the episode entitled “Leap of Faith,” which airs on October 23.

Broadcast on CBS, NCIS is a spin-off of Jag that takes viewers to the inner working of a government agency that investigates all crimes involving persons and property associated with the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps.  It centers on a team of that operates outside of the military chain of command, led by Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon). Also included in the squad are Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard (David McCallum), Abigail "Abby" Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), Anthony "Tony" DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), and Jenny Shepard (Lauren Holly), just to name a few.

In the fifth episode of season 5, the NCIS team is called in to talk a distraught naval officer out of suicide.  The officer, who recently got back from the Middle East, is ready to jump off of a 22 story building, but Gibbs talks him back over the wall.  Unfortunately, the situation becomes awry when Gibbs reaches for him and a shot rings out, consequently leading to the sailor's death.  The initial attempted suicide situation now turns into a murder investigation for Gibbs and his team.

Another spoiler for “Leap of Faith” is that the “murdered” naval officer is suspected of having ties to terrorists.  The team will dig deeper into the investigation with the help of an analyst who has been working his case.

Aside from the principle ensemble, this upcoming episode will feature the recurring character, Jimmy Palmer, Dr. Mallard's Assistant portrayed by Brian Dietzen. The show will also include guest characters like Navy Capt. Roger Walsh (Titus Welliver), Dr. Neil Fleming (Robin Thomas), NCIS Intel Analyst Nikki Jardine (Susan Kelechi Watson), Dana Arnett (Alaina Huffman), Navy Seal Lt. Michael Arnett (Adam Huss), Interpol Inspector Hugh Benson (John Vickery), Jake (Mark Matkevich), Ashley (Deanna Russo), Metro Police Sgt. Frank Thompson (Eddie Conna), NCIS Special Agent Roberta Wells (Kimberly Atkinson).
