The ratings powerhouses are starting to arrive this fall.  After CSI: Miami yesterday, it's NCIS' turn to grace our TV sets and finally assuage the fans of the procedural who have waited all these weeks for the premiere.  Of course, central to the agenda is whether the new team of Gibbs (Mark Harmon) will work out just as well as the disbanded old team.

According to CBS, the season 6 premiere slated tonight is called “Last Man Standing.”  The episode will follow the murder of a Naval Petty Officer and how it is somehow connected to the shocking shakeup the team underwent toward the end of last season.  “Last Man Standing” will clue us in on the details of how exactly is newly appointed Directed Vance (Rocky Carroll) connected to the case.

Right now, all we have is NCIS executive producer Shane Brennan's assurance that the premiere (and the team overhaul) will not disappoint its legion of fans, who have generally been apprehensive towards the whole thing.  Previously, the same director was seen destroying a piece of paper that Brennan described to be “very significant” in determining things to come.  Will Brennan's promise of “a lot of relieved fans and shocked fans” mean the old team of Ziva (Cote de Pablo), Tony (Michael Weatherly), and Tim (Sean Murray) is back?

“It did come out of the director's personal file.  Will we find out what it really means?  Yes!  This season?  Maybe.  Will it shed new light on Director Vance?  You betcha!" he excitedly gushed.  Some fans have fearlessly predicted that Gibbs' new team will only last a couple or so episodes until the old team is back.

To get the answers to these exciting questions and more, tune in tonight for NCIS season premiere 8pm on CBS.
