'NCIS' Fan Columnist: Mark Harmon- Hot and Humble
Can you believe Mark Harmon?

He's 58 and looking great while playing NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs on the top rated CBS drama.

So what makes Harmon so sexy? Is it his blue eyes or his silver hair? Maybe it's his ageless handsome face? Well to skew Potter Stewart's quote, I may not be able to define what makes Mark Harmon sexy but I know it when I see it.

Harmon was a gridiron hero at the University of California Los Angeles playing first-string quarterback for the Bruins from 1972 - 1973. He received the National Football Foundation Award for All-Round Excellence. He graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications cum laude in 1974.

Harmon began acting and getting noticed for his good looks and fine physique in the early 70s appearing in shows such as Adam 12 and Police Woman. He later portrayed a doctor on St. Elsewhere with another hot hunk Denzel Washington.

James Brady of Parade Magazine once asked Harmon how he kept in such great shape.

"I do a daily exercise regimen that supplanted all the running I used to do," he answered.

It works. Watching NCIS you get the feeling the younger members of the team really have to hustle to keep up with Gibbs. Is it his stamina or all the caffeine Gibbs imbibes?

Harmon has been married to actress Pam Dawber (Mork and Mindy with Robin Williams) since 1987 and has two grown sons. He sees himself as a regular guy and avoids the 'Hollywood lifestyle'.

Mark Harmon does not seek attention.

The Arizona Daily Courier reported back in 1996 that he saved two boys trapped in a burning car. The accident occurred outside his home. Harmon took a sledgehammer from his garage, broke out a window and pulled the boys free.

In typical fashion Harmon played down the event.

Mark Harmon is a hot hunk with a habit of being humble.
