season 4 begins tonight with an all-new episode at 9pm on CBS. Before the new season begins, have a look at what star Chris O'Donnell has to say about what we can look forward to this year.
"[Callen]'s in a little bit of hot water."
O'Donnell spoke to CBS News
about the premiere, saying that the episode will pick up right where we left off last season. O'Donnell said, "Callen has just shot somebody point blank and is being hauled off in a police car. So he's in a little bit of hot water, but we shall see. I'm sure Hetty will find a way to get him out of this mess."
Married with five children at home, O'Donnell also talked about how shooting a weekly TV series can be challenging when trying to balance work with a family life. He said, "On the one hand, we do work really long hours, but at least I'm in one place. There are days where the kids are asleep when I leave and asleep when I get home, but at least I'm in one city. It's a lot easier than going to Budapest for three months and doing a film where I don't see them all."
Welcoming some special guest stars this season
Looks like O'Donnell has found one way to combine his family and work lives. Turns out the actor's own mom will be making a cameo appearance in an upcoming episode this season. His mom wasn't the only one to get in on the action either, O'Donnell said, "I thought [showrunner Shane Brennan] was kidding when he told me his idea. But it was the thrill of a lifetime for my mom and three of the other actors on the show, their moms came out, too."
All the moms who visited got special treatment on the set, the actor added, "They brought in these giant campers for each mom, and they made a whole little area and they put out Astroturf carpet and garden furniture. It was very funny - enormous trailers that were much more plush than what we spend our days in."
Another crossover with Hawaii Five-0?
Considering how popular the first crossover was with NCIS:Los Angeles and its sister show, Hawaii Five-0, many want to know if we'll see another one this season. When asked about the possibility, O'Donnell said, "Um...there's some stuff brewing this season! I don't think anything that's been announced."
Learning more about Callen's family history
Callen is a character who knows less about his family than most and we as an audience have been finding out about his story just as he has. Apparently we'll get even more information this season, O'Donnell said, "Callen will learn a bit more about his family history, there's some interesting [in the] episodes coming up with Sam, where we learn about his family a little bit. Just exploring all the different characters, and a lot of the same fun and banter amongst each other."
After hearing juicy little tidbits like that, all I have to say is: Is it 9pm yet? I'm ready to get the new season of NCISLA started right now!
