Melanie Torres came from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She plays the piano and is currently learning how to play the guitar. She came from a family who is musically inclined. During her school years, she performed regularly in musicals and state fairs. She even sang the national anthem at many sports events. Later, she joined beauty pageants and was crowned Miss Albuquerque 2001 and 2nd runner-up Miss New Mexico 2001.

Ultimately, Melanie became part of Season 4 of Nashville Star as one of the contestants. Unfortunately, she got eliminated on Week 4.
