The biggest cat fight of the fall hits your television screen tonight. Nashville is about the city, country music, and the struggle to make it in this world. Queen of Country, Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton), is fighting irrelevance, while Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) is racing to the top of the charts.
Are we in for the biggest country music cat fight? It looks like we are, if the first meeting between Rayna and Juliette is any indication.
Rayna must decide whether to lose her record label's support or go out on tour with Juliette, as co-headliners, with Rayna going on stage first. Yeah. What a way to make a bad situation even worse! The decision appears to be made in the premiere, but I wouldn't be so sure it is a done deal.
Here's a clip of Rayna's meeting with her record label::
Not only is Rayna faced with problems at work, but her home life isn't all roses either. Her husband has struggled financially, she is estranged from her father, and undercut by her sister. Will the family be able to come together in the end?
Juliette has issues with her junkie mother, who continually is begging for money. The young singer reaches out for comfort in all the wrong places. She channels her distress in a direction that will hurt Rayna in the a terrible way.
Nashville has all the components of a primetime drama: love, family issues, city politics, and music industry politics. This show is unique in its use of music. Even though, I'm not a country music fan, I enjoyed all the songs on the premiere. I'm looking forward to more music in the future!
You can check out Nashville when it premieres tonight, Wednesday, October 10th at 10 pm ET on ABC.
