Myth Busters is a science television program about testing the validity of various rumors and urban legends in popular culture. Starring Adam Davage and Jamie Hyneman, the show is set at M5 Industries which is Hyneman's special effects workshop, as well as the surrounding San Francisco Bay Area.
Having a reality-documentary program with a hint of light humor gives the show Myth Busters it's unique structure. Each episode, the effects experts, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, creates extensive plans and detailed methods in preparation for the testing of the myths, scientific rumors and urban legends. Generally, the experiment involves explosions, vehicle crashes, injuries and other visual spectacles. More often than not, the experiments are a two-step procedure which first involves a recreation of the myth and the second is "the Myth Busters way". At the end of each episode, a resolution of the myth is declared, stating if it is confirmed, which means the myth is backed up with evidence and actual occurrences, plausible, which means the myth's outcome can only be produced by intensifying the parameters within reasonable margin, or busted, which means the myth's results cannot be replicated. Myth Busters is produced by Judith Plavnik, Gena McCarthy, Peter Rees and John Luscombe. It airs Wednesdays 9:00 PM on Discovery.
