With nearly two months before NBC kicks off its much-awaited fall drama,
My Own Worst Enemy, producers are determined to make all the necessary adjustments in order to fine-tune the series and live up to its hype. Among the latest modifications is the recasting of lead star Christian Slater's on-screen wife.
My Own Worst Enemy, for those who are not familiar, is a series that explores the duality of a man who is literally pitted against himself, a la Dr. Henry Jekyll and Mr. Edward Hyde. The show centers on Henry Spivey (Christian Slater), a mild-mannered suburban dad, and his alter ego, Edward Albright, an operative who is trained to kill.
Joining Slater on
My Own Worst Enemy are Saffron Burrows, Mike O'Malley, Alfre Woodard, and Yara Martinez, who was supposed to play Henry's wife. But according to
The Hollywood Reporter,
Madchen Amick has now been tapped to replace Martinez.
Madchen Amick is perhaps best known for playing Shelly Johnson on the cult TV series
Twin Peaks, which ran from 1990 to 1991 and its 1992 prequel film
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. Most recently, she appeared as Natalie Holden on
Viva Laughlin, as Gina Romero in an episode of
Shark and as Allison on the sitcom
Freddie. On the big screen, she is credited for
Mr. Rock 'n' Roll: The Alan Freed Story, Sleepwalkers, and
Four Corners of Suburbia, just to name a few.
The casting of Amick marks the second major change on
My Own Worst Enemy in the past 10 days. Show creator Jason Smilovic recently took a back seat in the day-to-day operations on the series, and co-exec producer John Eisendrath was elevated to executive producer and showrunner.
Fans can catch
My Own Worst Enemy on October 13 at 10pm ET/PT right after the critically acclaimed science fiction series Heroes.
