'Earl' Role Auction for Charity Ends Today
For those of you who hadn’t lucked out landing a stint on reality TV, don’t fret.  Your dream of having 15 minutes of fame can soon turn into reality with the help of NBC’s Earl and Food on Foot, a nonprofit organization “dedicated to providing the poor and homeless of Los Angeles with nutritious meals, clothing, and assistance in the transition to employment and life off the streets.”  The organization began in 1996 and has grown into a function that is capable of serving over 500 meals a week.

Food on Foot, in cooperation with Auctionwire put up an online auction which presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to become a walk-on character in the Emmy Award-winning series which stars Jason Lee as Earl J. Hickey, a man who is attempting to correct his wrongdoings by giving back and making amends.

My Name is Earl also stars Ethan Suplee as Randy Hickey, Earl’s younger brother, Jaime Pressly as Joy Turner, Earl’s ex-wife, Nadine Velazquez as Caralina Aruca and Eddie Steeples as Crabman.

Food on Foot and Auctionwire began the auction on September 12 and will close today.  For those who are interested in joining, log on to Auctionwire.com for more details.  Food on Foot also runs a week-long community clean up program tagged “Work for Food,” which enables people to pick up trash in exchange for fast food and grocery store gift checks.  Work For Food aims to help participants get full-time jobs and permanent housing, thus getting them off all government assistance.

For those who are interested in getting good karma, now is the time to join the auction and give back.  In fact, Earl creator Greg Garcia says that he is one believer when it comes to karma.

In a recent interview with Monsters and Critics, he said, “I’ve just always believed in karma and kind of been drawn to stories about people starting over in their lives,” adding that this was one of the factors behind the show’s conception.

My Name is Earl returns to television screens on September 25 at 8pm with back to back episodes on NBC.
