Previously on My Name is Earl: Earl got out of jail, got married to a girl named Billie and quickly realized marriage was not for him.

Just when you think My Name is Earl is running out of steam, it has a surprising ability to change.  Earl's list became too formulaic, so the writers threw him in jail.  When that wore thin, he got out and went into a coma.  Then he got married and divorced.  Season 3 ended with Earl back where he was a while ago, left with his brother and his list of things to atone for.

It will be interesting to see what tricks the writers have in store for the fourth season to keep things fresh, though they are not to be underestimated.  The world of Camden County is so rich with a wide variety of characters that there's always someone to go to if the show needs to take a break from Earl Hickey.
