NBC will be revving up its Monday night lineup as it debuts one of its newest high-energy competition series,
My Dad is Better Than Your Dad, tonight at 9pm. Helmed by former
MTV Sports host and creator Dan Cortese, who is also credited for the sitcom
What I Like About You,
My Dad is Better Than Your Dad is a one-hour family-friendly contest that puts dads and their respective son or daughter at the forefront of the action, leading them in series of exciting physical and mental challenges and stunts for the opportunity to win money and additional prizes that will be up for grabs.
In order to find out who's the strongest, fastest and smartest dad, the show has a number of games that will test dad's skills and entertain the viewers as well. These include the Alphabet Soup, which involves a giant soup bowl filled with 1,000 gallons of green goo, Human Dartboard, in which kids are attached to a harness and sent flying across the stage by their dads, Bobbing for Tomatoes, which involves a giant aquarium is filled with snakes, as well as a dozen tomatoes, and some question and answer portions, just to name a few.
The week after its premiere broadcast,
My Dad is Better Than Your Dad will be taking over the 8pm time period that is currently occupied by NBC's
American Gladiators revival, which will conclude its Winter 2008 broadcast run with a special two-hour broadcast on Sunday, February 17 at 7pm ET/PT.
My Dad is Better Than Your Dad is produced by Mark Burnett, producer of other shows like
Survivor, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? and
The Apprentice. The show is created by Hotchkiss and is a production of Reveille, Mark Burnett Productions and Hotchkiss Industries. Burnett, Mark Koops, Howard T. Owens, Mike Nichols and Hotchkiss serve as executive producers.
