Moonlight fans have been patiently waiting for almost three months for new episodes of the CBS vampire detective series since it aired its last installment in January. Nevertheless, supporters of the show have decided to make use of the hiatus to creatively come up with an initiative to support and give the series a bloody welcome when it returns on Friday, April 25.

To show their dedication to the freshman series, and more importantly to request that CBS renew Moonlight for a second season, fans have organized a national blood drive, which will be held at various locations nationwide from April 18 through April 27.

While this campaign hopes to ensure Moonlight's renewal, it also intends to benefit a life saving charitable cause.  This endeavor aims to replenish funds of the L.A. County chapter of the American Red Cross that were severely depleted by the recent California wildfires in its effort to help the firefighters and civilians who were in need of blood and other assistance

Taking an active role in the blood drive is the National Red Cross, which serves as a link to all of the local Red Cross chapters nationwide.  Meanwhile, volunteers are still needed to help set up and run new blood drive sites across the country.  So far, 4,000 have pledged to donate a pint.

Those who are interested should access www.youchoose.net, the blood drive's sponsor site, which also serves as a place wherein fans of TV programs can join crusades and “save our show” campaigns.  On the site, fans can choose three options on how to pledge to give blood or donate money, as well as access more information on where the blood drives are being held.
