TV ratings aren't usually interesting for fans to read. But for a show like
Moonlight, which significantly relies on the ratings for a second season order, the numbers mean a lot to hardcore viewers. With all the blood shedding efforts and campaigns to promote the CBS vampire detective series, fans will be pleased to know that
Moonlight has successfully returned last week with a bang.
The cult-favorite drama
Moonlight aired its first post-strike episode, “Fated to Pretend,” last Friday, drawing 8 million viewers and earning an average rating of 2.1 in adults 18 to 49, according to Nielsen. While the numbers may seem complicated to digest, this simply means that
Moonlight won the 9pm hour and helped CBS win the night.

Moonlight fans, however, shouldn't be complacent with last Friday's results as there have been other previous installments that have earned higher ratings than that of “Fated to Pretend.” "Love Lasts Forever," the 11th episode which aired on January 11, and "The Mortal Cure," the 12th episode which aired January 18, have respectively grabbed 8.38 and 8.35 million viewers.
On the other hand, conquering the Friday 9pm hour doesn't seem to be that difficult for
Moonlight as there remains to be little competition so far. The CBS vampire series' closest competitor last Friday was NBC's
Dateline, which earned 7 million viewers and an average rating of 1.9.
In addition to
Moonlight, CBS also got a lot of help from new episodes of
Ghost Whisperer and
Numb3rs.
In the meantime, fans can catch a new episode of
Moonlight, which stars
Alex O'Loughlin as Mick St. John,
Jason Dohring as Josef Konstantin,
Shannyn Sossamon as Coraline, and
Sophia Myles as Beth Turner, every Friday at 9pm on CBS. So far, there are three episodes left to look forward to before the pilot season comes to close, which includes this Friday's installment called “Click.”
