Bitty Schram Biography:

Many know Bitty Schram from Penny Marshall's baseball flick A League of their Own, but her acting career has gone beyond the big screen. She has acted on stage with Nathan Lane on the broadway production Laughter on the 23rd Floor and was nominated for a Golden Globe for her work in the USA Network’s Monk. Schram is known for her sweet and heartwarming yet humorous portrayals of different characters, which is why many were angered when Schram was removed from Monk after only two seasons. There are speculations that the reason for her termination was due to her request for a higher pay. Other projects for which she can be credited are Kissing A Fool, One Fine Day, and Marvin’s Room.

Sharona Flemming was played by Bitty Schram on the show Monk. Although this particular character was written off the show, the character's contribution to the show’s success cannot be denied. Sharona Flemming was, after all, Monk’s first assistant. Without her patience and unique approach to giving personal care to the obsessive-compulsive detective, Monk would not have been able to get far in his investigations. Flemming was not only Monk’s nurse, she was also his partner in solving mysteries. It is said that Flemming went back to New Jersey (where Bitty Schram was born and raised) to re-marry her ex-husband, to the dismay of Monk.
