Mission: Man Band

VH1 Reality
Bryan Abrams

Bryan Abrams is featured as one of the members of the cast in the VH1 reality television series Mission: Man Band. He was born on November 16, 1969 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and is a founding member of the band Color Me Badd. When he was younger, the artists he heard on the radio were the likes of Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and The Commodores. They inspired him to follow and emulate their melodic methods, igniting his plans of becoming a musician himself someday. He began to assert his own flavor of smooth-sounding R&B style while he was studying at Northwest Classen High School back in 1984, starting out as a freshman.

In between classes, he rehearsed together with a group of friends, composed of Kevin Thornton, Mark Calderon, and Sam Watters. After they fine-tuned their chemistry as a band and found their groove, they came up with the name Color Me Badd. Upon graduating, Abrams moved to New York City with his fellow band members in order to prove themselves worthy of a recording contract in the Big Apple. They performed together throughout the big city in locations such as subway tunnels and street corners, getting by on cash tips while attempting to perfect their ballads. They were eventually signed by Giant Records, a division of Warner Brothers.
