The Middleman is a comic-book-inspired series on ABC Family which follows the life of Wendy Watson (Natalie Morales) as she leaves her boring desk job and ends up fighting beside a straight-laced hero known as The Middleman. With the motto, “fighting evil so you don’t have to,” the series features comic-book-type super heroes, villains and weapons as well.
Wendy Watson is a struggling artist working temp job after temp job to support her passion. One day, a monstrous experiment wreaks havoc in the lab where she is working and eventually chases her. Unfazed by the monster’s appearance, Wendy tries to put up a good fight but to no avail, until the Middleman arrives and terminates the monster. Impressed by Wendy’s bravery and sheer determination, the Middleman (Matt Keeslar) decides to recruit Wendy as his sidekick. Wendy then begins her training under the Middleman’s guidance. And since then, she has been struggling to balance her art, social life and her job as a world-saving apprentice. The Middleman on the other hand, is a mysterious and straight-laced super hero who never swears and always has glass of “cow squirt” on hand. He has dedicated his life to fighting comic-book-styled villains. He is trained in several martial arts and has wide array of high-tech alien gadgetry. He regularly receives orders to save the world from the secretive organization known as O2STK. He immediately races wherever there is danger using his Middlemobile or Middlejet. Wendy and the Middleman are also joined by Ida (Mary Pat Gleasan), Middleman’s robot; Lacey Thornfield (Brit Morgan), Wendy’s free-spirited best friend; and Noser (Jake Smollet), Wendy and Lacey’s weird neighbor.

The Middleman is created and executive produced by former Lost and Medium writer Javier Grillo-Marxauch, based on his Viper Comics Graphic Novels. The show premieres on June 16, Moday at 8/7c.
