When it was announced that Clark Gregg was reprising his role of Phil Coulson on the new television series, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, fans were confused since they saw him die in The Avengers. Would the series be a prequel to the movie? Or, did he live?
S.H.I.E.L.D. takes place in a post-Avengers world, which means that Coulson either didn't die, isn't really Coulson, or ... some other possibility that Joss Whedon and his writing team determined.
