With the fall season fast approaching, many shows are adding to their casts, with numerous stars in big recurring roles. From
Scandal,
Resurrection,
Revenge and
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC to Danny's mom on
The Mindy Project and more, here are some exciting new casting bits.
Portia de Rossi on ScandalEllen Degeneres tweeted that her wife,
Arrested Development and
Ally McBeal star Portia de Rossi, will join the cast of
Scandal's fourth season for a "top secret arc." She should fit right in with the stylish Olivia Pope.
Michelle Fairley on ResurrectionFairley has been keeping quite busy since the Red Wedding on
Game of Thrones. The former Catelyn Stark has appeared on
Suits and
24: Live Another Day, and
her new gig is as a woman who comes back from the dead on ABC's
Resurrection. She'll play Margaret Langston for the entire second season, the mother of Henry and Fred (Kurtwood Smith and Matt Craven) who died many years ago, but comes back as one of the Returned.
Lucy Lawless on SHIELDXena will soon be
joining the Marvel universe. Lucy Lawless, best known for playing
Xena: Warrior Princess and a Cylon on
Battlestar Galactica, is joining the cast of Agents of SHIELD for a mysterious role in season 2. She's played good and evil characters in the past, so she could easily be friend or foe to the SHIELD team.
Brian Hallisay on RevengeThe Hamptons
will get yet another attractive man to possibly pursue Emily Thorne on
Revenge. The show's fourth season will add Brian Hallisay (
Mistresses,
The Client List,
Privileged) as Ben, a friend of Jack's and a local cop. Needless to say, he'll quickly get drawn into Emily's web of lies.
Rhea Perlman on The Mindy ProjectFour-time Emmy winner Rhea Perlman (
Cheers)
will be adding some spice to the third season of FOX's
The Mindy Project. She'll have a recurring role as Danny's mother. If you're keeping track at home, this means that between this show and
The Newsroom, Chris Messina's TV moms range from Perlman to Jane Fonda.
John Boyd on BonesBooth is getting a new sidekick. John Boyd, best known as CTU analyst Arlo on the eighth season of
24, will join the cast of
Bones season 10 as James Aubrey, an ambitious young FBI agent working with Booth. Coincidentally, Boyd is the second member of the
24 season 8 cast to work with Booth, following Freddie Prinze, Jr. last season.
Malcolm-Jamal Warner on Sons of AnarchyFinally, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, best known as Theo on
The Cosby Show and, more recently, as Shirley's ex-husband on
Community, is coming to the seventh and final season of FX's
Sons of Anarchy. He will play the right-hand man to the president of the Grim Bastards, a rival motorcycle club. Fans may recall that the Grim Bastards' president's cousin was the man who killed Opie in prison.
