Jane Kaczmarek is a Polish-American actress born on December 21, 1955 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She’s been nominated seven times for an Emmy Award (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series), once for every year she played the role of Lois on Fox Network’s hit series Malcolm in the Middle. Jane Kaczmarek has also performed on Broadway in the plays Lost in Yonkers and Raised in Captivity, winning the L.A. Drama Critics Award for the latter. Apart from her success as an actress, she also founded the organization Clothes Off Our Back, which auctions off celebrity clothing to help support children’s charities.
Lois Wilkerson is portrayed by Jane Kaczmarek in the Emmy-nominated sitcom Malcolm in the Middle. The mother of the dysfunctional Wilkerson family, her job as a clerk at the Lucky Aid drugstore doesn’t stop her from disciplining her children in increasingly odd ways. These have ranged from having them stand on their heads to making them spin nonstop in circles. She’s also widely considered to be a control freak, as shown in the episode “Traffic Jam” wherein she commandeered a crane to finish road construction which was causing traffic.
