Donald Joseph “Donnie” Klang was born January 23, 1985 in Brooklyn, New York. His love for performing started at the age of 12. He attended Island Trees High School where he sang for a pop and R&B group. He later went to Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York for a major in business and a minor in music. He was a part-time college student who worked at a gym when he entered MTV's reality search
Making the Band 4. Instead of having a spot in the group, he was given his own solo artist contract by executive producer P. Diddy.
