Make Me A Supermodel: The Final Four
Thursday, April 03, 2008

Ben, Holly, Ronnie, PerryThe season finale of Make Me A Supermodel is nearly upon us. Tonight, we'll be able to find out which of the four remaining models will win the grand prize of $100,000, a modeling contract with New York Model Management and a spread in GQ Magazine, as well as the right to call him or herself a supermodel. Will it be Ben, the prison guard from Nashville? Holly, the squirrel-eating model from the heart of Appalachia? Ronnie, America's darling? Or, will it be Perry, the overly-confident natural-born leader?

I have analyzed each of these four models' strengths and weaknesses in order to make my predictions for the season finale. Read on, and then share your analysis too!

Ben DiChiara

Times in the bottom three: 4
Wins: 1

Weaknesses: Ben is far and away the weakest model in the final four. I'm actually surprised that he is still around, since there are so many other models who have way more talent, namely Casey Skinner or Shannon Pallay. Ben is stiff, uncomfortable in his own skin, and it's hard to tell if he actually wants to be a model. There are times when he's on, but he seems to be capable of only two facial expressions: happy and angry.

Strengths: Ben has a great body and a sexy face. When he's on, he can hit them out of the park. Give him a couple of years in the industry, and I guarantee that he can eventually become a top-billing model.

Holly Kiser

Times in the bottom three: 1
Wins: 2

Weaknesses: Holly is not as physically fit or toned as she should be for high fashion. But this is not as big a deal as it could be, however, because she can always improve on her muscle tone. She just needs to spend some quality time with a treadmill. She has also been told repeatedly by Cory Bautista that she doesn't have the strong personality and thick skin that she needs to make it in the brutal world of fashion. Another of Holly's weaknesses is her lack of stage presence. I am certainly not overly wowed whenever I hear her talk. Thankfully, she doesn't have to talk when posing for photographs or walking down the runway.

Strengths: Holly has a flawless face with striking features. She has a signature look but she's still able to morph into different personas when required. She is so attuned with her body that her poses and walks appear completely effortless. She consistently delivers great performances, and has improved so much over the course of the season.

Ronnie Kroell

Times in the bottom three: 4
Wins: 1

Weaknesses: As Project Runway's Christian Siriano keenly pointed out, Ronnie does look a bit dopey, with his lazy-eyed smile. He is often criticized this season on Make Me A Supermodel for having too much of a commercial, all-American look, and he perhaps doesn't have the range that some of the other models do.

Strengths: Ronnie's great personality and tireless work ethic are what make him stand out from the other three models. It's crystal clear that he wants to win this so badly, and he'll work as hard as he has to in order to get there. He started out the season looking very Abercrombie & Fitch, but has been able to embrace the couture side of modeling as well.

Perry Ullmann

Times in the bottom three: 1
Wins: 1

Weaknesses: Perry has striking features, but his proportions are too reminiscent of Lurch. (He would easily win a Make Me A Supermonster contest, hands down.)  Have you noticed that he hunches his enormous shoulders when he walks and his arms sort of hang down limply in front of him? He also has a tendency to be over-exuberant and over-enthusiastic on the set, which I'm sure turns photographers off.

Strengths: Perry is consistent, always delivering a great photo. There's no question that he deserves his spot in the final four. Although his enthusiasm might be too much sometimes, he clearly does have a passion for modeling and is able to translate his enthusiasm into fierceness. Sometimes it looks like he's phoning in his performance, but even then, he always comes out with a great photo or look book.

Predictions

Ronnie is clearly the darling of Bravo's largely gay or female audience. I won't be surprised at all if he wins Make Me A Supermodel, but if it were only my vote that counted, Holly would take it home. She has the best combination of flawless beauty, natural talent and passionate drive, among the four finalists.

Who is the most talented model in the final four?
Ben
Holly
Ronnie
Perry
