Make Me a Supermodel: Jacki Hydock is Glad to Be Home

make me a supermodelAlthough Jacki Hydock put in great efforts to become successful on the catwalk, she still became the most recently axed contestant on Bravo's Make Me A Supermodel.  And while she enjoyed her reality TV stint, she says that nothing beats being at home.

"I'm back to a real life," Hydock, who returned to her hometown in Cleveland last Friday, said.  "It was so hard not having contact with the world.  You can't talk to family, friends.  You can't watch TV…you're really in a vacuum."

Hydock was one of the seven young women to compete against seven young men in the reality modeling competition, Make Me a Supermodel on Bravo, which is hosted by Niki Taylor and Tyson Beckford.  She was away for eight painstaking weeks and was wary of being on a reality series.  On the other hand, she knew that it was going to be a stepping stone to a brighter future.

"I hate reality shows.  I don't even watch them on TV," she said.  "You have to be aware you're going to be portrayed in a certain way, and I thought I could just suck it up.  But I wasn't expecting how emotionally and mentally draining it could be."

In the end, all her struggles paid off.  When Hydock's cell phone was returned to her after being shut off for two months, she had messages waiting from casting directors and acting agencies.

Hydock is heading back to New York in a few weeks to work on her portfolio with some of the photographers she met on Make Me a Supermodel.  Nevertheless, she remains to be a Cleveland girl at heart.

"My future may be up in the air, but this is my home, no matter where I live," she said.  "I'm never going to forget that.  Docherty, my agency, gave me all the knowledge that got me cast in New York to begin with.  It's just hard to know what's coming next, but I don't want to turn a job down here, that's for sure."
