Make Me a Supermodel deviates from the usual model competition by putting the final fates of the contestants in the hands of the viewers. While the judges might decide who gets put up for consideration, it's your vote that ultimately can save a model.
Because of this, the judges on
Make Me a Supermodel can be extremely candid in their public comments. On a pre-taped show like
America's Next Top Model, where the suspense is dependent on all participants keeping the results mum, the judges can usually only offer up some vague comments when asked during the show about the strengths and weaknesses of the contestants.
Not so for Mr.
Tyson Beckford! He has really committed to the Simon Cowell persona he's adopted for the show, and recently delivered an extremely frank assessment of the models.
So what does he think of most of the models? Not, it would appear, a heck of a lot. Most of his comments were rather negative, but he did seem some potential in some of them
First off, he's got some harsh words for
Ben DiChiara,
Casey Skinner, and
Dominic Prietto. “I can name the guys with a terrible walk: Casey, Ben, and Dominic. Those three guys have the worst walks I've ever seen.”
Jay McGee, Tyson thinks, is “nowhere near as bad” as those three, but “he has to grow up quicker.”
Ronnie Kroell is “great” but “cheesy, you can't get rid of it.” As for
Frankie Godoy, Tyson says, "Frankie's cool, he just doesn't know when to turn it off. He gets annoying after a while."
Perry Ullmann is the only one for whom Tyson seems to have unreserved positive feedback, saying that he “is high fashion. Sometimes, people just need shaping and molding, and they turn into something big.”
And for the girls? He doesn't see a heck of a lot of great things there either.
Aryn Livingston doesn't impress him.
Katy Caswell is a “cute girl, she's the kind of girl that you'd want for your girlfriend,” but the
Make Me a Supermodel host is not so sure she's high fashion material.
Shannon Pallay, Tyson thinks, has height…and that's about it.
Stephanie Bulger doesn't get a lot of model-specific critique; Tyson just says she's a little too quiet.
Holly Kiser's doing better with her new haircut, but to Tyson she seemed to not be as strong as the previous week.
Jacki Hydock did well, and it was needed to redeem herself from refusing to wear the thong bathing suit in the previous episode of
Make Me a Supermodel.
And what does Tyson think of eliminated model
Sarah Swartz? “She'd be a great
Maxim girl, guys are gonna want to see her topless.”
Tune in for more of Tyson's off-the-cuff comments in this week's episode of Make Me a Supermodel.
