During
Dominic Prietto's short stay on
Make Me A Supermodel, he managed to rub some of his competitors the wrong way, but he did impress the photographers when it counted at the photoshoots. Unfortunately, the judges took issue with his stiff runway walk and put him up for the vote. Last Thursday, he became the second model hopeful on
Make Me A Supermodel to be eliminated.
Dominic talked to BuddyTV about his take on the tensions that arose between himself and some of the other contestants, how he started in the modeling business and his future career goals, both in the fashion industry as well as his other pursuits. Below, you will find an audiofile and a summary of the interview.
Dominic explains his remark right after his elimination about the "bad coaching" that he received. He clarifies that it wasn't bad coaching, but just contradictory to what the judges. He says that Trevor [Rain of Heatherette] told him to drag his spurs while walking down the runway. Also, runway coach Debbie Deitering told him that he needed to slouch his shoulders a bit because his cowboy outfit accentuated his stiffness.
As for the tension that occurred in the house between Dominic and the other model hopefuls, he says that, as a Gemini, he has a lot of layers and it takes some time for people to get to know him. He meshed well with a lot of his fellow contestants, especially Perry, Frankie, Sarah and Jay. But he says that others perceived him as a threat and wanted him off the show. The warm homecoming he received after his elimination from his friends and family and even strangers proves to him that viewers saw him for the nice guy that he is.
Dominic feels that he lacks the experience of some of the other models, like Perry, Frankie, Holly and Aryn, but he believes that he has the raw natural talent that he is learning to hone in on.
He explains that he got into modeling because he has a unique European look and striking eyes. But it is really the artistic and creative parts of modeling that appeal to him. This is why he loves doing high fashion modeling. He is dying to work with fashion photographer Steven Klein, whom he claims is "the big rockstar photographer of the world." Dominic considers himself an artist, and high fashion gives him a chance to express himself.
From his exposure on Make Me A Supermodel, Dominic says that he has gotten a pretty decent response on his MySpace page. He wants to do as much as he can with his modeling, but he thinks it is important to have a variety of interests, just like Tyson Beckford does. In that regard, he sees himself pursuing his deejaying career and even acting, along with modeling. But his goals right now are to do some high fashion modeling in Italy and shoot with the best photographers in the world.
Were you sad to see Dominic go?
