American actress Rosemarie DeWitt was born on October 24, 1974 in Flushing, Queens, New York, USA. She is one of the granddaughters of James J. Braddock, and she played the role of neighbor Sara Wilson in the movie Cinderella Man which depicted the life of her grandfather. She has a background in theater, consisting of numerous off-Broadway plays. She graduated from Whippany Park High School, where she performed in many school productions. Later, she enrolled at New College of Hofstra University, majoring in creative studies. She went to New York as well, training at the Actors’ Center.
Rosemarie DeWitt’s stage career has allowed her to star in Danny and the Deep Blue Sea at the Second Stage Theatre, in The Butter and Eggman at the Atlantic Theater, and in Craig Lucas’ Small Tragedy. The entire cast of the play won an Obie Award for their performance, catapulting DeWitt to more popularity. She soon got to work on television, landing appearances on the series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Sex and the City. She was also seen on two episodes of Rescue Me, and has been cast in an episode of Love Monkey. DeWitt had a role on the dramatic comedy The Great New Wonderful, and played a mother on the short drama film Buy It Now in 2005. She portrayed Dana on the musical film Shut Up and Sing, written and directed by Bruce Leddy. DeWitt later played the title character in the short drama Doris before appearing on Off the Black. From 2006 to 2007, she became known for playing Emily Lehman in the Fox series Standoff, co-starring Ron Livingston. She later joined the cast of Mad Men, where she plays Midge Daniels. In 2008, Rosemarie DeWitt worked on the drama Afterschool, and worked with Anne Hathaway on the film Rachel Getting Married.
