Christina Hendricks was born Christine Elise McCarthy on May 3, 1978 in Knoxville, Tennessee, but grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho since the age of three. She started her acting career as the opportunistic, career-climbing intern on Beggars and Choosers before landing a production deal with John Wells Productions that paved the way for her to appear on numerous shows including The Big Time, E.R. and The Court. She has also guest-starred on popular series like Cold Case, Without A Trace, Joss Whedon’s cult hit, Firefly and more recently, opposite Taye Diggs on his series, Kevin Hill.

Joan, played by Christina Hendricks on Mad Men, is the svelte and polished secretary at Sterling Cooper ad agency. She has recently taken the new girl, Peggy, under her wing and is orienting her on everything from office fashion to office politics.
