mad menAMC has finally set a premiere date for the second season of the critically acclaimed series Mad Men. On Sunday, July 27 at 10pm ET/PT, Don Draper, Peggy Olsen and the rest of the employees at the fictional Sterling Cooper advertising agency are set to return and shed light on the cliffhangers and revelations from the first season finale that left viewers mulling for seven months now.

Set in 1960s at the fictional Sterling Cooper advertising agency in New York City's Madison Avenue, Mad Men revolves around high-level advertising executive Don Draper and the people in his life in and out of the office.  The show also illustrates the changing social mores of early 1960s America.

Mad Men premiered on July 19, 2007 and immediately attracted massive viewership, higher than any other original series on the network to date.  Since its first episode, the show received highly positive critical response and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series in the drama category.  It also earned lead star Jon Hamm a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor.  Additionally, the series won the Writers Guild of America Award for Best New Series, while the American Film Institute considered it as one of the ten best TV series of 2007.  Following its very successful initial run, Mad Men was renewed for a second season.

For those who have missed an episode of this award-winning series, you can catch the entire first season as AMC launches a Mad Men marathon on July 20.  All 13 episodes will be available in both standard and high-definition on demand.  Aside from the back-to-back episodes, Lionsgate will also release the first season DVD on July 1.
