Don versus Duck! Betty telling Don she's pregnant! Pete sitting in his office with a rifle! You were probably on the edge of your seat while watching last night's season 3 premiere of AMC's Mad Men. The drama picked up in full force, opening a number of unexpected storylines that seem more, if not equally, intriguing than past seasons. In a nutshell, viewers got some sort of resolution to the cliff-hanger announcement that Betty (January Jones) is pregnant while Don (Jon Hamm) and Sal (Bryan Batt) took a business trip to Baltimore where both men succumb to the powers of persuasive seduction in an effort to reassure a major client; and Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) appeared quite happily settled into her new role at Sterling Cooper though Pete's (Vincent Kartheiser) future was still unclear.

With "change" as the overall theme for season 3, we can expect more jaw-dropping moments as Mad Men heads further down the road. It's actually kind of predictable but in a really good way because being unpredictable is just something you'd expect from this critically acclaimed series.

I won't give away any spoilers but seeing Sterling Cooper has now merged with Putnam, Powell, and Lowe, loyalties will be tested and more dark secrets are likely to emerge. Speaking of secrets, I'm really curious about what's become of Peggy and Pete since she dropped her own baby bombshell in last season's finale (she secretly gave birth to his child only to give it up for adoption in order to pursue her career). While that was out of sight in last night's opener, that doesn't mean that it will stay buried for long. Moss even assures fans that, "Although things may not be as on the nose as you want them to be, her past has a huge effect on everything that she does, and you do see that in the third season."
