The Sopranos writer and producer Matthew Weiner comes a new primetime series called
Mad Men. In an attempt to showcase a provocative program, AMC has picked up an initial 13-episode order of the series, which will premiere on Thursday, July 19 at 10/9c.
Set in 1960 New York,
Mad Men explores the glamorous and dynamic world of advertising as it centers on the lives of the fiercely competitive men and women of the Sterling Cooper Ad Agency. Surrounded by an ego-driven environment, key players struggle to make a living out of selling while their private lives get sold.

Leading the cast is
Jon Hamm as Don Draper, the creative director of Sterling Cooper advertising agency. Jon Hamm is an actor best known for his role as Inspector Nathan Albert Francis "Nate" Basso on
The Division. His other credits include
Point Pleasant,
Gilmore Girls, and
CSI: Miami.
Playing the role of Pete, a rising young account executive at Sterling Cooper, is
Vincent Kartheiser. He is known for his role as Connor on the series
Angel. He has also appeared on shows like
ER, and worked in films like
Another Day in Paradise, and
Crime and Punishment in Suburbia.
Serving as Don Draper’s secretary Peggy is
Elisabeth Moss. The 23-year old actress is known for her roles on

Invasion.
Playing the Peggy’s mentor Joan is
Christina Hendricks. Christina Hendricks is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, who has landed recurring roles on
ER and
Firefly.
Maggie Siff stars as Rachel Menken, the female head of a major department store who had an aggressive interaction with Don Draper. Maggie Siff is a theater actress who has performed in productions of
Ruby Sunrise,
Dollhouse and
Ghosts.

John Slattery as Roger Sterling,
Rich Sommer as Harry,
Bryan Batt as Salvatore,
Michael Gladis as Paul,
January Jones as Betty,
Aaron Staton as Ken, and Rosemarie DeWitt as Midge.
