Ken Leung as
Miles Straume Born on January 21, 1970 in New York City, Ken Leung was educated at New York University where he discovered his passion for acting in his junior year. He studied acting with Catherine Russell and Nan Smithner and performed in downtown spaces and black boxes, joining groups such as Ma-Yi, New Perspectives, and STAR, a traveling group of actors-educators based in Mount Sinai Hospital.
Leung debuted in 1997 in the Brett Ratner film Rush Hour. Three years later, Edward Norton cast Leung in Keeping the Faith, and since then, Leung has appeared in several independent, feature and television films. He also appeared in the series
Oz , where he first met future Lost co-stars
Harold Perrineau and
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje . By 2002, he made his Broadway debut in the Tony Award-winning musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie.
In 2006, Leung appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand as Kid Omega, and in 2007, he worked on the independent film Shanghai Kiss with Hayden Panettiere, and guest-starred in an episode of the final season of the HBO drama series
The Sopranos . After seeing his performance on The Sopranos, the producers of ABC's Lost cast Leung for the regular role of Miles Straume in the show's fourth season.
USA Today reports that Leung is described by some as shy, and that he himself admits "I've been hard to get to know." However, during filming breaks, he is often found having a cigarette with
Naveen Andrews , who plays Sayid in ABC's Lost. As for his character, Leung describes him briefly, saying "I trust the dead more than the living."
