That night, Locke writes his suicide note and ties an extension cord up as a makeshift noose. The shoes he wears over his cast look like sandals, and he spreads his arms like he’s Jesus on the cross before killing himself. But he’s interrupted by a knock at the door.
It’s Ben, who tries his hardest to talk Locke off the ledge. First he admits to killin Abaddon because Widmore is a dangerous man who only wants Locke out of the way so he can go back to the Island and retake his leadership role. Ben uses all the pressure points, ending with how important Locke is and how he still has work to do. This works, and Locke agrees to get off his sacrificial cross.
They plan to get the others to come back, and Locke reveals that after they do, he was told that they must find Eloise Hawking. At the mere mention of her name, Ben gets a wild look in his eyes. Then he takes the extension cord and strangles John Locke to death with it. Oh ym God, Ben killed Locke! You bastard!
Ben cleans up after himself and stages the hotel room to make it look like a suicide. “I’ll miss you John,” Ben says. “I really will.” Call me crazy, but I believe him.
And then we’re back on th Island, where Locke finds Caesar in the office. Locke talks about the DHARMA Initiative and how he was on the Island for more than 100 days, but he also says that any attempts to explain this would be pointless. I agree.
Caesar says that during the flight, there was a bright light and some of the people, like the big guy next to him, disappeared. Locke seems a bit shocked by the mention of Hurley, but he also starts to piece together what happened. That puts him a few steps ahead of me.
He asks for a passenger list, but the pilot took it with him. As for the rest of the people, some of them were injured in what I can only assume was a plane crash. Locke sees the injured, and Ben is among them. Locke tells Caesar, “He’s the man who killed me.”
Wow, I have no idea where this show is going, but I want more right now.
Next week on
Lost: We’re back to Sawyer and Juliet, but we’ll also see them meet up with the returning Oceanic 6.
