This isn’t an Easter Egg so much as a blatant mistake by the show, which I take pleasure in finding. In the opening scene, a 15-year-old Emily Locke is hit by a car and gives birth to John, whose birthday we know to be May 30, 1956. However, she is listening to Buddy Holly’s “Everyday,” a song not released until July of 1957. John Locke may have been a special baby, but I doubt even his powers allowed his mother to listen to a song one year before it’s released.
The other interesting sidenote about this choice of song is that Buddy Holly, of course, died in a plane crash, undoubtedly a primary reason for using him as an artist.
