Lost: Lingering Finale Questions
Lost: Lingering Finale Questions
It's been over a week since the Lost season finale aired and my mind is still spinning.  There was too much to take in over the two-hour final episode.  Making sense of it all takes time.  Even after this week and a half long gestating period, I still have an incredible amount of questions.  Some of these won't be answered until season 5, some not until season 6, and some probably will never be answered.  The Lost writers are juggling dozens of plot points in this period between seasons.  With that in mind (and considering it's been a slow news day), I thought I'd pose some lingering Lost questions I had floating around in my brain and see if all you BuddyTV Lost fans could give me some answers.
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

If Emilie De Ravin isn't going to be appearing in season 5, as has been reported, then what does that mean for the action on the island?  Is she dead?  Why would she be a big part of season 6 and not season 5?

How the hell did John Locke get off the island?  Was he the only one?

Since Desmond and Penny will presumably return to the mainland and “normal” life ten months before Ben does (when he promptly goes and tells Charles Widmore that he will kill Penny), what sort of interaction will Desmond/Penny have with Charles?  Will Charles warn Penny after Ben's visit?  Will Penny and Desmond have had any contact with Charles in those ten months?  Why have there been absolutely no mention of Penny or Desmond in any of the flash forwards?

Does Sayid know something we don't about the death of his wife?  This has bothered me from the moment we found out Sayid was working for Ben.  He's a smart guy.  He had to suspect that Ben had something to do with his wife's death.  Either that, or Ben was able to unequivocally prove that he is innocent.  What exactly, then, are Sayid's motivations?  How much has Ben told him?

Once the Oceanic 6 leave the island, what goes horribly wrong?  Will the Others with Locke really go to war against Sawyer/Juliet and the other beach dwellers?  If so, why?  Sawyer has made it clear that he just kind of wants to exist on the island, as do Rose and Bernard.  Juliet, on the other hand, really wants to get off the island.  What kind of role will she play in the chaos that presumably ensues on the island?

What are Ben's ideas to go back to the island?  Can they simply get on a boat and head back if they know the correct bearings?  How much exactly has Ben lied about?  Will Abbadon have a part to play in the Oceanic 6 returning to the island?

My biggest question, perhaps, going into season 5 is this: How will Kate end up going back to the island?  She has too many reasons to stay.  Her parole, her belief that Locke was not to be trusted, the creepy Claire dreams, Aaron, etc.  I think my theory of Kate being kidnapped is a legitimate one.  Ben may have some alternate method planned.  If so, I can't wait to see what it is.

Feel free to discuss and try to answer any of these questions.  I'd like to hear your thoughts.
