Upon starring on
Lost,
Matthew Fox has gained much popularity and attention, which eventually led to his venture in the film industry. Despite the lukewarm financial success of his first movie since his inclusion on
Lost,
We Are Marshall, the actor has positively earned roles in movies like
Smokin’ Aces and
Vantage Point, which doesn’t hit screens until October 2007. On top of that, Fox is set to star in the movie
Speed Racer and will take on a role quite different from his usual good-natured and “man of science” central character on
Lost.
Fox, a 40-year old native of Abington, Pennsylvania, appeared on the series Party of Five prior to his inclusion on
Lost. His acting credits included,
Wings, Freshman Dorm, If I Die Before I Wake, My Boyfriend’s Back, and
Melrose Place.
Speed Racer, adapted from the 1960s animated series of the same title, is to be directed in high-definition video by Laurence "Larry" Wachowski and Andrew "Andy" Wachowski, famed for the Matrix series. It centers on the escapades of the young racecar driver, Speed, and his pursuit of victory in his distinct vehicle, Mach 5. The cast includes Emile Hirsch as Speed, Christina Ricci as Trixie, Speed's girlfriend, Susan Sarandon as Speed’s mother, John Goodman as Pops, Speed’s father, Kick Gurry as Sparky, Speed’s mechanic and Matthew Fox as Racer X, Speed’s rival.
Meanwhile, Fox isn’t the only
Lost Actor who gets to be featured in the silver screen. Co-star
Evangeline Lily, who plays Kate Austen on
Lost, will star in a movie with John Malkovich entitled
Afterwards.
Filming of
Speed Racer will commence on June 5, 2007 in Berlin, Germany and will be open to theaters on May 9, 2008. Meanwhile, fans can catch Fox as Dr. Jack Shephard on the remaining episodes of Lost season 3 every Wednesday at 10/9C on ABC.
