Rebecca Mader as Charlotte Lewis
Born to David and Jeanette Lewis on July 2, 1979 in Essex, England, Charlotte Lewis was raised in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, England. She was educated at the University of Kent and later earned her degree in philosophy in Cultural Anthropology from Oxford University. In Charlotte’s flashback in “Confirmed Dead,” we find that around the time the Oceanic Flight 815 wreckage was recovered, she was in Tunisia. There, she bribed a man to let her into a dig-site, where she discovered the skeleton of the polar bear, and a Dharma collar with the Hydra station logo on it.
Charlotte is an anthropologist who was one of the freighter crew sent to the island by Naomi. She landed on the Island after she parachuted from the Ladipus helicopter which encountered some technical problems. Her parachute got stuck on a tree overlaying a small river, and she managed to free herself, thus falling into the water. Upon rising, she encountered John Locke and his group of survivors from the Oceanic Flight 815 plane crash. She inquired Locke about the survivors, asking him if he knew how many they were in all. Much to her surprise, Locke told her that they did not want to be rescued and that he wanted her to join his group. She later found out that her transponder was attached to Vincent the dog, to throw off anyone who may have been looking for her.
Charlotte once tried to escape Locke's group, but she was shot by Ben Linus. However, she survived the attack because she was wearing a bullet-proof vest. Locke then held a gun to Ben, who revealed some facts about Charlotte's background.
Left with no choice, Charlotte continued to travel with Locke's group. They later reached the barracks, where Sayid eventually arrived and proposed a deal to Locke. Sayid wanted to exchange Charlotte for Miles Straume. Locke accepted the deal and Charlotte was taken by Jack Shephard's group. They then traveled to the beach, where Charlotte met the other survivors.
That night, she played a card game with Daniel Faraday, whose memory she tested. Later, she called up the freighter's emergency line through the satellite phone and talked to Regina. The two had a suspicious conversation and Jack eventually questioned Charlotte about the helicopter.
Later that night, Charlotte and Daniel packed a bag with gas masks and HAZMATS suits and left for a Dharma station on the other side of the island. While they were on their way, the two rain into Kate Austen, who asked them what they were doing. Charlotte purposely lied, saying that they were searching for the packs they threw from the helicopter. When Kate inspected their bags and saw the gas masks, Charlotte hit Kate at the back of her head with the butt of Charlotte's gun, thus making Kate unconscious.
Charlotte and Daniel eventually reached the Tempest Dharma station and began working on the station's computer to disable the lethal gas system. Before they could finish, Juliet arrived and tried to stop them, fighting and beating out Charlotte. However, when Charlotte and Daniel explained the purpose of their visit, Juliet set them free to continue their mission. Kate later showed up and held Charlotte at gunpoint, but Juliet explained to Kate that Charlotte and Daniel were on their side. Thus, Kate had no choice but to set Charlotte free.
