Hilary Duff is definitely back on the small screen! After
landing the lead on Barely Legal, the new NBC comedy series based on the true life story of Kathleen Holtz, an exceptional lawyer and the youngest person to pass the California bar exam, the former
Lizzie McGuire star has acquired yet another TV gig. According to
Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello, the 21-year-old actress will be appearing in an upcoming episode of CBS'
Ghost Whisperer.
There's no word yet on when Duff's
Ghost Whisperer episode will air. It has been hinted, however, that she'll be playing a "beautiful woman of mystery" may have been involved in the death of some guy.
Evidently, Duff and
Ghost Whisperer lead star
Jennifer Love Hewitt, who plays Melinda Gordon, are close friends. This casting stint marks Duff's first appearance on the CBS paranormal drama, and her first guest stint following her appearance on
George Lopez and
Joan of Arcadia.
Aside from acquiring her new series
Barely Legal, Duff will also be given the chance to make cameos and have storylines on already-existing shows on NBC. Her current wish list includes
The Office and
30 Rock. And while she's certainly trying to make her presence felt on the small screen once again, she remains busy with several upcoming big screen projects, including the drama
Greta, where she plays the title character,
Foodfight!, where she lends her voice to Sunshine Goodness, and
Stay Cool, a comedy flick where she portrays a student who has the hots for Mark Polish. All three movies are currently in production and are expected to hit theaters later this year.
In other news, Jennifer Love Hewitt will reportedly direct the upcoming episode of
Ghost Whisperer. The episode, entitled “Body of Water,” is slated to air tomorrow at 8pm ET/PT on CBS.
