Good news for
Matt Roloff fans. Residents of Kansas will be able to catch the patriarch of the Oregon family featured on the TLC reality show
Little People, Big World, as he gives a motivational speech at the 2007 Kansas State Fair, which runs from September 7-16.
"We're real excited about that," Denny Stoecklein, the fair's general manager, said during the media preview of the fair last Tuesday. "That's something really different for the fair. It's not your traditional fair entertainment, but with the appeal of the show, we think it's something that's going to be a hit."

Did this family really let the baby birds die? That was very cruel. I will never watch the show again.

Inspiration? This man has already gone through one diversion program for DUII and is now facing a trial for...
Roloff, the 45-year-old star of
Little People, Big World, will particularly grace the event on Wednesday, September 12 at 6pm in the fair's AT&T Arena. His program will be among the fair's entertainment for which nothing additional is charged beyond the gate admission.
Discounted gate tickets are on sale through Sept. 6 at Dillons stores throughout the state or at the fair's official web site.
Aside from the star of
Little People, Big World, the fair will also feature daily performances by hypnotist Ron Diamond as part of the fair's free entertainment. His comedy act has packed the AT&T Arena bleachers on more than a few occasions.
"I think he's been one of the biggest attractions we've ever had at the fair," Stoecklein said.
Moreover, there will be pig races, the Cool Dog Thrill Show, a demolition derby, auto races and lawn mower races.
Fair-goers will also be able to visit some of the renovated areas of the city such as the House of Capper, restored to its original form, and an open-sided gazebo offering a place to get some shade and people-watch. The fair's beer garden has also revamped, and three more restroom facilities have been upgraded and improved since last year.
