little people, big worldThe positive reception of viewers to the show Little People, Big World has now become visibly widespread, at least for one hotel chain.  Carlson, a privately owned international corporation in the service, travel and hospitality industry, has taken a big leap to accommodate little people who find themselves in rooms intended for average-sized guests.

Carlson’s effort, which started on July 1, entails the provision of an easy to use tool kit to make the little people more comfortable.  The $315-accessibility kit offers five different tools.  It includes a step tool, an extension poker, a security latch adapter, a rod adapter and a grabber.

"Carlson Hotels believes in diversity and inclusiveness, and through that, they take it beyond the realms of ethnicity and they always try to accommodate all kinds of guests," Sandra Wolf, manager of Country Inns and Suites in Naperville, said.

"We have as many as we need," Wolf added.  "We can get them sent overnight to us if we have an excessive amount that is needed."

Country Inns and Suites is just one of the hotels owned by Carlson.  Other hotels include Park Inn Hotels, Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Radisson Hotels, and Regent International Hotels.

According to Wolf, the idea of providing accommodations to people of short stature came from Matt Roloff, the star of Little People, Big World.

Little People, Big World, a reality series on The Learning Channel, explores the daily lives of the Roloff family.  The family consists of parents, Matt and Amy, and four children, Zach, Jeremy, Molly and Jacob.  Although some of them are little and average-sized people, they live in harmony in the 34-acre Roloff Farms, located in Helvetia, Oregon.  Throughout the show, drama arises from the everyday activities made more challenging due to the height of the little people in the family.
