Born in Port Elizabeth in South Africa, Atandwa Kani is the son of John Kani, a well-known actor in South Africa. At a young age, he was exposed to the entertainment industry, and after spending time with his father while reading scripts and attending theater performances, he was greatly influenced to follow the footsteps of his father. He is educated at the University of Witwatersrand, where is studying theater performance and actively participating in school productions. Kani has appeared on the film The Bet, and was cast in 2007 for the role of Tumelo on the CW series, Life is Wild. While not acting, he enjoys reading, playing soccer, watching movies and going to clubs.
Tumelo is played by Atandwa Kani in the CW series, Life is Wild. Tumelo is a young African native whose dreams of becoming a veterinarian are being frowned upon by his doctor father. Upon meeting New Yorker and veterinarian Danny Clarke and his troubled family, Tumelo's dreams are fueled and his passion reignite.
