Stephanie Niznik stars in the upcoming dramatic motion picture,
The Twenty. Niznik plays the character, Dot, alongside Clancy Brown of HBO's
Carnivale and Chopper Bernet, who essays the lead role of Carty and also directs the film.
The Twenty tells the story of one man, driven to uncover the truth behind an old crime, believing it will lead him to his own deliverance.
In his directorial debut, Chopper Bernet also stars as a San Francisco film editor trying to regain some semblance of a normal, functional life after a bout with alcoholism. Three months into his sobriety and finally free from drunken blackouts, Carty chances upon a twenty-dollar bill. The currency note contains a message about an unsolved rape that took place in Michigan seven years ago.
From the moment he picks up the money, Carty is consumed with a need to follow the trail of the mysterious case. He embarks on a wild goose chase of the clues spread across the country. In the process of attempting to solve the crime, Carty becomes paranoid and begins to suspect everyone around him.
In the end, Carty comes to realize that his obsessive quest for the truth behind the unsolved rape is only an excuse to run away from his newfound sobriety. He is forced to recognize his own weaknesses before eventually achieving peace.
Aside from Bernet, Brown and
Life is Wild's Niznik, the film also features Lisa Darr of
Popular,
Strong Medicine and
Life as We Know It, Rodney Scott of
Young Americans and
American Dreams, Laraine Newman of
Seventh Heaven and
As Told By Ginger, Laura Jordan of
Brothers & Sisters and John Wesley of
Martin and
The Bill.
Meanwhile, Stephanie Niznik can be seen regularly as Jo Clarke on The CW's brand new series,
Life is Wild, starting October 7.
