Paul Sorvino was noted for his role as Detective Sergeant Philip Cerreta on NBC’s Law & Order. For 31 episodes, he played an Italian-American Catholic who used charm and good conduct as part of his approach in investigating cases. Prior to his work as a police officer, he served in the military. He joined the 27th precinct, replacing Greevey and gradually developed a close working relationship with Mike Logan. In the course of an undercover operation, he was shot in the chest. Although he survived, he retired from being a street cop since some of his nerves were severely damaged during the shootout, and just took a desk job at the 110th precinct.

Following Law & Order, Sorvino landed the role of Anthony Caruso in A Perry Mason Mystery: The Case of the Wicked Wives, and portrayed Captain Phil Giarusso in Backstreet Justice. He served as the host of Behind Bars, a program starring James MacPherson. This was followed by a string of movie projects, including Cover Me, Nixon, Love Is All There Is, Romeo + Juliet, Knock Off, To Kill the Irishman, Rhode Island Blue, Money Talks, and Harlem Aria. Next, he starred on the television series That’s Life as Frank DeLucca. Apart from his visible acting skills, he was also credited for providing the voice of Scheck in Hey Arnold! The Movie. Most recently, he appeared on four episodes of Still Standing and in the movie The Wild Stallion.

At present, Sorvino has four films lined up for 2007. He serves as the director and stars as the character Ivan in the drama movie The Trouble with Cali. Next, he stars as Catch Turner in the romantic comedy Greetings from the Shore. The said film is about a young girl who stumbles into the mysterious world of Russian sailors, gambling and unforeseen love. Sorvino has also been cast in Carnera: The Walking Mountain, which is currently in post-production stages. He stars as Ledudal, joining other actors like Anna Valle and Andrea Iaia. In 2008, he will be featured in the thriller The Real Catch as Dale Parker.
