law & orderLaw & Order has just hired a new prosecutor.  As we reported earlier, the legal drama will be returning for a new season with Sam Waterston's character, Jack McCoy, taking the place of Fred Thompson's character, Arthur Branch, as District Attorney.  This consequently leads to an available position for a new Executive Assistant District Attorney.  But before Law & Order even hits the air, actor Linus Roache has already been added to fill in the vacancy.

"I've known Linus' work for several years.  He is an actor who totally gets inside his roles.  I think he and Sam are going to raise the bar and add intellect and passion in the back half of the show," NBC, Universal Media Studios and executive producer Dick Wolf announced.

Linus Roache, a 43-year-old native of Manchester, Lancashire, is an actor who is known for his role as Dr. Thomas Wayne in Batman Begins and John McCarthy in the film Blind Fight, in which he was nominated for a BAFTA Scotland Award.

Although he has worked in many movies, Roache has extensive credentials when it comes to acting on television.  His work consists of television series and tele-films like How High the Moon and The Gathering Storm, which earned him a Golden Satellite Award for his portrayal of Ralph Wigram.  Most recently, he was cast on the short-lived NBC series Kidnapped as Andy Archer.

Roach will be joining the rest of the ensemble of Law & Order as the show returns for a new season to explore crime and justice from a dual perspective.  As a sampler, Detective Edward Green (Jesse L. Martin) investigates crimes and apprehends a suspect under the command of precinct lieutenant, Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson).  As for the criminal courts, Executive Assistant District Attorney (Roache) and the Assistant District Attorney Connie Rubirosa (Alana De La Garza) work within a complex justice system to prosecute the accused under the leadership of the newly promoted District Attorney Jack McCoy (Waterston).
