Law & Order

Last week marked Law & Order's first regular episode of its current 18th season.  When the long-running series opened its 18th year two weeks ago, NBC aired a special two-hour premiere episode.

Tonight's episode features a pair of actors who have also made names for themselves as Broadway thespians.  According to Playbill, the next couple of weeks will see several stage performers take turns on the original Law & Order series from creator Dick Wolf.

Tonight on Law & Order's installment called “Bottomless,” a pair of pants goes missing from a drycleaner and leads to a lawsuit.  What begins as a case of lost trousers becomes a murder mystery when the defense attorney winds up dead.  Detectives Green (Jesse L. Martin) and Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) are confronted by what appears to be a link between the case and a shady businessman who may be hiding far more than a mere illicit office tryst.

Tonight's episode will showcase guest performances from stage actors Kaitlin Hopkins and Will Chase.  Aside from being credited with numerous titles both on and off Broadway, Hopkins has also appeared both of Law & Order's spin-offs, Criminal Intent and Special Victims Unit.  Chase, on the other hand, had previously guested on Dick Wolf's short-lived legal drama, Conviction.

In additional spoilers, next week, another film, television and stage personality, John Pankow, will take his turn on Law & Order in the episode called “Illegal.”  Pankow will play Assistant District Attorney Josh Lethem, who is assigned to prosecute the case of a police officer accused of killing a woman during an immigration rally.  His personal biases and agenda lead to a clash of wills with his boss, Jack McCoy (Sam Waterson), giving rise to tension in the District Attorney's office. “Illegal” airs January 23.

Alan Campbell and Ally Walker of Profiler fame are also slated to appear in future episodes of the series this season.
