Fans are already excited for tonight's tenth season premiere of NBC's Law & Order SVU, which brings us Christopher Meloni as Detective Elliot Stabler, Mariska Hargitay as Detective Olivia Benson, Dann Florek as Captain Donald Cragen, Richard Belzer as Detective John Munich, Ice-T as Detective Odafin, Diane Neal as A.D.A. Casey Novak and B.D. Wong as Dr. George Huang.  Moreover, several guest stars such as John from Cincinnati's Luke Perry, and Sports Night's Teri Polo and Josh Charles.

Recently, SVU guest stars spoke with Monsters and Critics to reveal some juicy tidbits on tonight's season premiere, entitled “Trials,” which airs at 10pm.

The season premiere will revolve around an abused foster child who is linked to the case of a rape victim, played by Sara Gilbert.  Later, a young boy named Christopher Ryan is caught driving a runaway van, thus causing Stabler and Benson to take the seven-year-old into questioning. He then confesses that his parents Gwen (Julie Bowen) and Noah Sibert (Luke Perry) bribe him in exchange for abusive medical testing.  After further investigation, the team is led to a former unsolved rape case involving Kaitlyn Murphy.  Benson later discovers a link between the two cases, and with the help of a new agent, works to solve the case.

"I always think it’s exciting when I get to play a dramatic character and something that I don’t always play," Gilbert said of her stint on SVU.  "People know me more for comedy I think, so it’s always exciting to me when I get to play something so dramatic."

Gilbert adds that “I’m a fan of the show and the writing and the actors.  And so that I was excited that they were interested in me to begin with.”

Perry, on the other hand, applauds the show for reaching its tenth season, saying that “this show... they don’t just do victim of the week or bad guy of the week...That’s how you get a show that stays on the show ten years.  People care about all that stuff across the board.  And they’re really smart the way they lay it out there.”

Catch Law and Order: SVU as it returns to television screens with its tenth season tonight at 10pm. Meanwhile, check out the promo clip below for a sneak peek into the next season.
