'Law & Order: SVU' Episode 9.04 Spoilers
Previously, it was reported that Emmy-nominated actor Aidan Quinn (Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, The Book of Daniel) would be gracing NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as a guest star this season.  However, not much information was given about the actor's character nor the date of his appearance – until now, that is.  According to Spoiler TV, Quinn's episode is scheduled to air on Tuesday, October 16, and for all those who are curious as to what his role on the episode is, continue reading.

However, for those who live for surprises, this is the moment to turn away as some plot spoilers lie ahead.

First and foremost, the episode is entitled “Savant.”  For the unfamiliar, the word “savant” pertains to a person of extensive or profound learning.  Given this, the title's relation to the episode's focus, other than a possible ironic twist, remains unclear as the episode revolves around a mentally-challenged girl who becomes the sole witness to her mother's savage beating.

Spoiler TV reports that the young girl's name is Katie Nicholson, played by guest star Paulina Gerzon.  Katie's mother, Corrine, played by singer-actress Judy Kuhn, is beaten into a coma, but because of Katie's sensitive mental condition, the detectives express reluctance over placing her on the stand to testify.

The detectives suspect Corrine's uncooperative husband, Ben, played by Quinn.  However, because Ben has powerful legal support that helps him to keep from testifying, Detectives Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Dr. Huang (B.D. Wong) have no other choice but to question Katie.  Together, the three try their best to work with Katie to piece together the night of the beating and uncover some of Corrine's well-hidden secrets.

Adam Beach (Chester Lake), Dann Florek (Captain Donald Cragen), Ice-T (Fin Tutuola), Diane Neal (Casey Novak), Tamara Tunie (Dr. Melinda Warner) and Richard Belzer (Detective Munch) also appear on the episode.

Interestingly, both Juhn and Gerzon have appeared on the Law & Order: SVU's parent and sister series, Law & Order and Law & Order: Criminal Intent, as different characters.  Moreover, Gerzon played a girl by the name of Alicia Hahn on the Law & Order: SVU episode entitled "Serendipity," which aired as part of the show's fifth season.

Law & Order: SVU
airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on NBC.
