Fans of Law & Order: Criminal Intent can catch the premiere episode, as well as the rest of the seven season, on the show's new home, USA Network.  NBC first announced the move in May, and while changes should be expected, the cast and crew assures the differences will be more of an evolution than a dramatic turn.

"Last year [the show] started to be more character-driven, and we're really going to go for that this season," Vincent D'Onofrio, who plays Detective Robert Goren on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, told the New York Daily News.

"We had a change in our main writer, Warren Leight, and that really breathed new life into the show,” Erbe interjected.

The new season will also place the spotlight on the character's personal lives.

"And I think this is good," Erbe said, "because the people I've talked to, those on the street, when they talk about the show they don't talk about the crimes.  They talk about Goran and Eames, and how they interact.  It's the characters that people ...  have fallen in love with, more than the Law & Order formula."

"They never talk about who we caught," added D'Onofrio.  "They always talk about how we caught them."

The evolution on the show becomes apparent with tonight's season premiere, and later on in the series, Goran's mental health comes into question.

Catch the season premiere of Law & Order: Criminal Intent tonight at 10pm on USA Network.
