Las Vegas is heading for a fifth season and with the new season comes a fresh addition. According to TV.com, actor Tom Selleck will most likely join the action-packed drama series, although his inclusion is still currently under discussions with producers. This is actually Selleck’s first regular project on a drama series since his program Magnum P.I. ended in 1988.

The Golden Globe and Emmy Award winning actor is bound to play an intelligent, powerful and a high-spirited new owner of the Montecito Resort & Casino. Selleck’s role is actually a new character intended to seal the recent exit of James Caan, who played Ed Deline, the head of the casino’s surveillance team for four years. Caan reportedly left the Las Vegas to venture again in the movie world. Others speculate that his departure from the show was due to a budget shortage.

Selleck, a 62-year old native of Detroit, Michigan, attended the University of Southern California on a basketball scholarship. He started out as a model and eventually pursued acting after acquiring training at the Beverly Hills Playhouse. As an actor, he appeared on television shows like Friends, Mangnum P.I., and The Rockford Files among others. He also graced the movie world with films like Three Men and a Baby, Mr. Baseball, Her Alibi, The Love Letter and Innocent Man to name a few.

Apart from Selleck, Las Vegas is also adding an attractive female concierge in replacement of actress Nikki Cox, who played Mary Connell. Meanwhile, the fifth season of Las Vegas is still bound to showcase its other cast members like Josh Duhemel, Molly Sims, James Lesure and Vanessa Marcil among others. Las Vegas, which is broadcast on NBC, is set to return for a fifth season in the fall.
